Shakespeare’s characters Viola, Sebastian, Olivia, Orsino, Malvolio and others are busy with their affairs in the “real” streets, squares, gates, bridges and villas in and around Dubrovnik, where they meet creatures from Držić’s fantasy world of fairies, gods, shepherdesses and shepherds… most of all the title character of Plakir (God of Pleasure, son of Amor), who helps everyone and makes sure that all the mess with love affairs in “Twelfth Night” end happily. The film will also include puns and gags about contemporary Dubrovnik, mass tourism, with anachronisms, and parody references to many movies and TV shows filmed in “the City”. It presents Dubrovnik, its beauties, unique cultural heritage, literature, arts… striving for freedom and independence.
